*Jeffrey Gibson: When Fire Is Applied to a Stone It Cracks* invited the artist to organize an exhibition drawing on the Brooklyn Museum's own holdings. Gibson selected objects from the Native American collection, the American art galleries, the photography collection, and the Library Special Collections and Archives, placing them alongside his own recent work: beaded punching bag sculptures, paintings, garments, paintings on hide and canvas, and ceramic vessels.
