Aulac Typefamily

This project started as an attempt to make a “house” typeface for my personal work and client projects — a go-to with the stylistic charm and characteristics I found across the modern grotesques, paired with a few letterforms of my own that I’d been wanting to use. The fishhook “2” in particular was drawn on its own, and sat in a sketch folder for a couple of years. The name comes from a small area on a hill between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Growing up nearby, there were three reasons to go to Aulac: a truck stop (The Big Stop), a German restaurant (The Schnitzel Haus), and an old French fortress (Fort Beauséjour). Donec magna nunc, gravida quis ipsum at, ornare bibendum urna.
